Hello, my name is Juan Santaella and I go by the nickname Taxacct. I got my Accountant degree from a Venezuelan University named Universidad Catolica Andres Bello in year 1986 and since then, I have been practicing accounting in many different ways. My first job, as soon as I got out of the University, was in KPMG. It was a very intense experience and I stay with them for wonderful 7 years until I decide to join and smaller private accounting firm with very good perspectives. Along time, those perspectives went down do to the fact that the partners of the firm decide to dissolve their partnership, and immediately I was out of the game. By those days, my older brother, who use to be a Sun Microsystems distributor in Venezuela, was looking for a person to organize his growing business and immediately we start working together. 10 years later, this family business went from as One Man Show to a company with government contracts, 80 employees, gross revenues for $18MM/year and a very good future, but happiness doesn’t last forever, we went down because of a change in central government and reassignment of existing service agreements, you know, South America improvisation, lack of justice and opportunity taking general behavior. Then in year 2000 I decide to open my own Accounting Firm here in United States, originally residing in Miami, but then in Tampa for family reasons. Since then my wife and I have been working as hell here in this office, but years later we can tell that it worth the effort.
